Perch Pond Update

On 5/18/16, Perch Pond Preservation, Inc., presented more details about their original request to the Conservation Commission (ConCom) to dredge the Perch Pond entrance channel from Great Pond and provide beach nourishment from just north of the Harrington Street boat ramp to just south of the east end of English Street including associated excavating, grading and landscaping.

In the first few minutes, the presenter stated that their request to provide nourishment to the local beaches has been removed from their proposal. No reason was given. Instead, any dredged materials will be brought to a “permitted location”.

ConCom members had many questions about the project, including who would truck out the dredged materials and exactly where they would go. The request was continued to 7/13/16.

You can watch the 2 hour presentation, which ran from 7:05 to 9:02 PM, on FCTV at fctv.org/v3/vod/conservation-commission-may-18-2016

We thank our alert FHMNA members in Maravista for bringing the Perch Pond dredging proposal to our attention and are pleased to know that any dredged material will not adversely affect the neighborhood.
