SouthCoast Wind Project Remains Paused In Falmouth

On Friday, November 24, 2023, the Falmouth Enterprise printed an article on page 11 entitled “SouthCoast Wind Project Remains Paused In Falmouth”.

Excerpts:

SouthCoast Wind representatives say the company is undaunted by recent setbacks in its offshore wind project, despite canceling its contracts with Massachusetts utilities companies.

The company is competing for the Tri-State offshore wind procurement, an initiative announced by Governor Maura Healey’s office on October 4.

“The project is full steam ahead,” (SouthCoast Wind director of external affairs) Ms. Ullman wrote. “We have budgeted $100 million this year alone to advance our project.” Ms. Ullman added that permits with the federal, state and local governments are progressing.

(Selectman) Mr. Brown added that a representative from the company informed him that SouthCoast is seeking to increase capacity of the project at Brayton Point and potentially bring all of the energy to the grid at that connection.
