The following is the full article quoted from The Falmouth Enterprise published on Friday, 6/12/26, page 1, entitled, “Full Beach Operations To Begin In Falmouth On June 27”.
Falmouth’s beach operations are gearing up for the summer season, with full seven-day-a-week operations scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 27, following the end of the Falmouth Public Schools academic year.
Beach staffing is largely based on local school schedules, and Beach Superintendent Maggie Clayton said operations are starting later than usual this year because winter storms resulted in additional school days. Until high school students are available for summer employment, the town will rely on college students who have already completed the academic year and retirees to staff some beaches over the next two weekends. About 149 employees are needed each season, including lifeguards, parking attendants, clerks and supervisors.
Old Silver Beach was the only beach monitored during the first weekend of June. Beaches were not staffed over Memorial Day weekend because of poor weather conditions.
Those planning to park in town beach lots are reminded that a beach parking permit sticker is required and must be displayed on the lower left-hand corner of the driver’s side windshield. However, a parking sticker does not guarantee a space, as there are approximately 1,465 parking spaces available across all town beaches.
As of Monday, the town had sold 10,368 beach stickers, compared to 15,956 sold during the entire 2025 season. Sticker sales began in January, with in-person sales starting May 1. This year, about 71% of stickers have been purchased online, while 29% have been sold in person.
Online orders can be placed through the town’s website and are processed during the week. The Ellen T. Mitchell Bathhouse is currently open from 9 AM to 4 PM on weekends and will operate daily from June 27 through September 7.
Sticker prices vary based on residency, taxpayer status and method of purchase.
Resident and taxpayer beach stickers cost $45 when purchased online and $50 when purchased by mail or in person. Nonresident employee, military and timeshare stickers are also available for $45. Seasonal nonresident stickers cost $275 for in-town residents and $375 for out-of-town residents. Weekly nonresident stickers are available for periods ranging from one to four weeks, with prices between $85 and $225. Replacement stickers are available for $10 with the return of the original sticker.
A 4.5% fee applies to all online orders and in-person debit or credit card purchases at the bathhouse. Additional information regarding residency and taxpayer verification requirements, as well as beach sticker details, is available on the town’s Beach Department website.
