Sewer Hook Up Deadlines Extended

Letter from Amy Lowell, Wastewater Superintendent:

Hello,

A letter will be sent next week [week of June 1, 2017] to owners of Falmouth Heights properties within the Little Pond Sewer Service Area that have not yet connected to the sewer system saying:

The Town of Falmouth sent all property owners in the Falmouth Heights portion of the Little Pond Sewer Service Area a letter on June 1, 2016, requesting they complete the connection of their properties to the sewer system by June 1, 2017.

For the Falmouth Heights portion of the LPSSA, the deadline for connection is extended to November 30th, 2017; this date is the final deadline for Falmouth Heights Area sewer connection without a fine. Properties may be assessed a fine of $50 per day for every day after that date.

The town has allowed a significant period for connections (12 months allowed from first notice, and an additional 6 months allowed from this notice, for a total allowed connection period of 18 months). The sewer system was constructed in order to address water quality problems in Little Pond, and it will not serve this purpose until the properties in the area are connected to the system.

Before beginning to connect the sewer system, property owners or their representatives must apply for and receive all applicable permits. Please see the Town’s website for information about this and other LPSSA topics: [www.falmouthmass.us](http://www.falmouthmass.us), under Government/Wastewater Division/Little Pond Sewer Service Area.

[Property owners in the remainder of the sewer service area – Maravista, Spring Bars Road vicinity, Teaticket Highway, have a later deadline because the sewer was made available to that area later.]
