Town Meeting Votes Yes for Grinder Pump Policy and No for New Maximum Building Heights

Article 3, to increase the allowed height of buildings, by right, from 35’ to 40’ in a flood plain (affecting both the Heights and Maravista) was voted down at Town Meeting on Monday, November 9, 2015. See details in the Falmouth Enterprise article “Town Meeting Says No To New Maximum Building Heights” at http://www.capenews.net/falmouth/news/town-meeting-says-no-to-new-maximum-building-heights/article_3f5353c5-3554-5c8a-a7ad-db339d677aa5.html

Article 24, asking the Board of Selectmen to establish a maintenance policy for the grinder pumps required to be installed on 700 properties in the Little Pond Sewer Service Area was overwhelmingly approved by Town Meeting members on Thursday, November 12, 2015. See the Falmouth Enterprise article “Town Will Assume Responsibility for Maintaining Grinder Pumps” at http://www.capenews.net/falmouth/news/town-will-assume-responsibility-for-maintaining-grinder-pumps/article_d75edc53-9f9e-5a3f-a0f9-830b56278d7b.html

The Enterprise title is a bit misleading. While the sentiment was clearly in favor of 100% town maintenance, the Selectmen, who now have a clear mandate to create a policy, can draft a policy that will not require the town to provide that maintenance. FHMNA will participate in the policy development discussions and hope to protect our members and other neighbors.
