Hydrangea Bandits Strike Again

A friendly “heads up” on neighborhood happenings: there have been reports of hydrangea thieves clipping blooms in the Heights and Maravista neighborhoods this summer. Owners suspect it is occurring overnight.

We have heard similar stories of “hydrangea bandits” all over town for at least 10 years, but this year seems more extensive. Blooms are missing, and, in some cases, thieves have damaged the bushes and other surrounding plants.

Residents are encouraged to be aware of this and to report incidents to the Falmouth Police. If you have any videos, photos or license plate numbers of any bandits you spot, please forward them to the police. It would be very helpful in apprehending these assailants.

Here’s an interesting Falmouth Enterprise article from 2019 regarding blossoms stolen in the Maravista area.

Another article from the Cape Cod Times in 2000 notes blue flowers were being stolen in Dennis, while currently in Falmouth a variety of colors have been taken.
