The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that the US Army Corps of Engineers will be performing maintenance work on the Bourne Bridge (Route 28), on Monday, April 27, through May 20.

Lane closures on Route 28 northbound and southbound will be in place at all times. Temporary traffic alterations, including lane and shoulder closures, will occur as needed.

At least one lane of travel will be maintained at all times, and police will assist with traffic control and safety setups. No wide loads will be permitted to cross the bridge while the lane restrictions are in place.

In addition, the sidewalk on the bridge will need to be closed for approximately seven days when work occurs immediately adjacent to the sidewalk.

Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

Drivers traveling through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution. All scheduled work is weather-dependent and subject to change without notice.
