Falmouth’s Seasonal Community Reality

On January 5, the Select Board voted to ask Town Meeting to decide in April whether Falmouth should accept the state’s Seasonal Communities designation. The Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities has already approved Falmouth for this status, formally recognizing a reality residents know well: our housing market is shaped by seasonal demand. 

The designation also opens the door to new state funding sources and future legislative tools…

In exchange, the state requires zoning changes related to tiny homes at less than 400 square feet of living area and building on undersized lots. For Falmouth, this is not a radical shift.
