On Monday, 3/21/16, the Selectmen approved the Silver Shores Shanty, 465 Grand Ave., entertainment license as per the application: Saturday and Sunday, 4:00 – 7:00 PM, 1 musician with guitar/keyboard, amplification system, outdoor patio.
As a result of neighbor’s complaints, there was some discussion about lowering the amplification.
Although a requirement to modify the amplification was not part of the motion to approve, one of the Shanty’s owners, Bob Flynn, said he was “willing to work with the location of the amplifier” to address the complaints that the music could be heard over 150′ away. The suggestion was made to point the amplifier towards the Shanty building rather than out to the street.
Also note Falmouth Enterprise March 22, 2015 online article “Silver Shore Shanty Gets Entertainment License” which states “Mr. Flynn said he would work on repositioning speakers away from the street to better accommodate neighbors.”
