Selectmen Approve Online Posting Policy

On Monday, September 26, 2011, the Board of Selectmen passed an Online Posting Policy requiring all appointed committees to advertise their agendas on the Town website “at least 48 hours prior to such meeting” and minutes “within 10 days of the meeting” “whether approved or in draft form” (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays) .  This policy conforms with the MA Open Meeting Law (M.GL. Ch. 30A, 18-25) and is in addition to the required physical posting at the kiosk outside Town Hall.

The committee chair will be responsible for electronically filing information to the Town Clerk who will then post items to the website.  The Town Manager will be responsible “to ensure that all committees are able to carry out this policy”, and the Board of Selectmen “shall annually conduct a review to ensure compliance with this policy”.

The policy will be reviewed by the Town Counsel, Atty. Frank Duffy, and the MA Atty. General’s office, if necessary, before becoming effective on November 1, 2011.
