On Monday, September 28, 2020, the Select Board approved Wastewater Superintendent Amy Lowell’s recommendation to release a partial reimbursement of $1800 to those homeowners who were required to install grinder pumps as part of the Little Pond Sewer System Area’s (LPSSA) sewer project. This payment represents the average cost differential between installing a grinder pump vs. a gravity system.
Some history and details:
On May 16, 2016, the Select Board voted to “provide modest compensation for one-time, partial reimbursement of grinder pump installation cost”.
In December, 2018, Superintendent Lowell presented to the Select Board her analysis showing that the average cost difference between grinder pump and gravity connections was $1800 and that there were sufficient funds under ART 28 04/14 of the LPSSA appropriation.
On Monday, Superintendent Lowell presented the following criteria, process, notification and time frame:
Criteria for Eligibility:
-Only the owner(s) of the property at the time of sewer connection is(are) eligible for reimbursement.
-Only non-commercial residential properties are eligible.
-To qualify for reimbursement, the property’s LPSSA combined sewer connection permit must be closed out.
-Any future new pump connections in LPSSA will not be provided a pump or reimbursement for installation.
Process:
-Homeowners will be required to submit a 1 page application form, including a W9 form.
-The application form & W9 will be mailed to home owners, and notice given via The Enterprise and local organizations (e.g. FHMNA).
-The Wastewater Division will review applications for completion and will forward them to the Town Accounting Department for reimbursement.
Time Frame:
-Applications for reimbursement will be accepted through December 31, 2021.
